“Who knew dipping a Maker’s Mark bottle in its signature red wax would be so popular?” So said Shannon Westerman, LVAA Director, as he pondered getting a caricature for the label on a bottle of the corn mash whiskey for $100. Westerman, Maker’s Mark ambassadors, artists and fans joined at the Water Tower for a night dubbed Month of Makers, to drink the sweet elixir that we call our own and to vote on the artwork that was most evocative of Bill Samuels’ bourbon.
Andy Cook won first prize $1,000.00 for his wax bordered work that depicted the inside of a bourbon warehouse. Second prize and $500.00 went to Jacqui Van Ham who turned bottles into a light fixture and third prize went to Wayne Stacy whose photo of Whiskey Creek won the crowd’s whiskey loving hearts.
Some things make you proud to be in Kentucky. Bourbon and the LVAA make the sun shine bright here, even on cloudy days.
