NFocus celebrated the launch of our New Faces of Philanthropy December issue with a party at the Speed Museum. Pam Brooks, NFocus publisher, and Susan Barry, CEO of the Community Foundation of Louisville, presented honorees with a $1,000 grant for each of their nonprofit organizations: Todd Crawford for The Todd Crawford Foundation for Spinal Cord Injury Research; Jackie Keating for The Dare to Care Food Bank; Maggie Keith for New Roots Inc.; J.K. McKnight for The Forecastle Foundation; and Gerome Stephens for The Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies. For receiving the most Facebook votes and highest event ticket sales, Gerome Stephens was awarded an additional $2,000 grant for the Kids Center for Pediatric Therapies.

The New Faces of Philanthropy Committee—made up of our 2010 honorees J.P. Davis, Barry Roth, Jessica Moore, and Erica Williams—selected this year’s New Faces of Philanthropy from a large and impressive pool of nominations submitted by members of the community. Event Chair, J.P. Davis said the committee “selected the five individuals who were most inclusive, innovative, and inspiring in their efforts to serve others.”

Guests at the New Faces of Philanthropy party were treated to music by the UofL Jazz Ensemble, food and drinks by some of our finest local establishments, open exhibitions throughout the spectacular Speed museum, and an inspirational program emceed by NFocus Social Correspondent Tonya Abeln. One Hope Wines, Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale, and Willett Bourbon served libations while Martini Italian Bistro’s Chef Hubbard served guests an array of Italian favorites, including antipasta platters and meatballs, the Bristol offered a spread of their best hors d’oeuvres, and Doc Crow’s served up platters of their succulent barbecued ribs. Heitzman’s Bakery topped off the evening with trays of decadent pastries.

Congratulations to Todd, Jackie, Maggie, J.K., and Gerome! Thank you to the New Faces of Philanthropy sponsors—Stonecroft Homes, the University of Louisville, Z Salon and Day Spa, Alltech, and Sam Swope—and to all of our guests for supporting these amazing young people and their courageous efforts!
