“Only You Can Love Me This Way”
Kristin Marr marries Nathan Paine

On the day of Kristin and Nathan Paine’s Frazier Museum rooftop wedding, so much rain poured down that they considered moving the ceremony indoors. Against odds, the storm broke. As Beyonce’s version of “Ave Maria” began to play and the first bride’s maid set foot to the aisle, the sprinkles of rain halted, the sun broke through the clouds, and Kristin and Nathan were able to experience their first “movie moment” as husband and wife.
Kristin said, “If you don’t have the valleys in life, you can’t appreciate the peaks.” With Nathan by her side, Kristin endured the many trials of a D.I.Y. wedding, along with the unexpected strain of family tragedy just months before the wedding. Through the stress, greater bonds were formed between Nathan and Kristin’s family. “I couldn’t imagine someone could make you feel better and feel okay in the middle of all of this.” Kristin said, explaining her husband’s great support. Nathan reupholstered chairs, hung decorations, glued streamers, and stamped invitations—all to support his bride-to-be.
Like Kristin, Nathan is a movie buff and so decided to model his proposal after Kristin's favorite movie scene. Sitting with her at bedside, he revealed a ring box containing a strand of pink thread. He proceeded to tie the string to her finger, while explaining the bond of marriage. He then slid the yellow-tinted diamond ring down the string until it was in place on her left ring finger, where it would forever remain.
The ring, much like their relationship, is unique. Nathan decided to go with a canary diamond, remembering how it lit up Kristin's face on a Caribbean cruise in years past. Inscribed on the rings is the couple’s favorite song, “Only You Can Love Me This Way.” With a fairy tale dress, a fairytale ring, a princess and a prince charming, the wedding ended with a night full of dancing. At the end of the night, Kristin and Nathan stepped into a white horse-drawn carriage, which galloped off into the night.
After a honeymoon in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, Nathan and Kristin now live by their catch phrase, “It’s exponentially better,” referring to their married life. The couple resides happily in LaGrange, both working for Qdoba and enjoying quality time with friends, family, and most importantly, each other.
